A couple hours after the New York Times published their investigation detailing the shockingly high number of massage therapists Deshaun Watson used and new details of the former Texans quarterback initiating sexual contact during those sessions, Watson responded by posting lyrics from a Lil Baby song.

The lyric is from Lil Durk’s verse on Lil Baby’s 2021 song “Rich Off Pain.”

Posting cryptic lyrics on social media is nothing new for Watson.

When he was beefing with the Texans and asking to be traded, he often tweeted lyrics from Atlanta rapper Future. That all stopped when he began getting hit with lawsuits from massage therapists who accused him of sexual misconduct during their sessions.

Watson dialed back his social media presence after the accusations, and on Tuesday night, he made his Twitter account, which has more than 1.2 million followers, private.

He had a brief foray into Snapchat during his surreal time in Texans training camp in 2021, but quickly stopped posting there after the media took notice.

He’s started posting on Instagram a bit more since being traded to the Cleveland Browns, but sticking with his M.O. of using cryptic lyrics. Last month, he quoted Lil Baby’s “In a Minute,” posting photos of him wearing a Browns jacket and captioning it, “Never take it personal, show no mercy … Bruh taught me that way back.”

Last week, he posted photos from what appears to be a vacation along with lyrics from NBA Youngboy’s “Peace Hardly”: “I can barely get Peace Hardly; Talk like they all in, I see; all these people just wanna scheme, I just wanna be.”

Watson faced 22 civil lawsuits from massage therapists before the Texans traded him to Cleveland in April, but he’s since been sued by two more women accusing him of sexual misconduct during their sessions.

Grand juries in both Harris and Brazoria counties declined to file criminal charges against Watson, who has denied any wrongdoing. During depositions for the civil suits, Watson has testified that he had consensual sex with three massage therapists.

After trading for Watson, the Browns gave him a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract. That contract give him the second-highest annual salary ($46 million a year) in the NFL and the largest guarantee in league history.
