A month after debuting at SXSW, “Facing Nolan” – the documentary about Hall of Fame pitcher and Texas lagend Nolan Ryan – has been acquired for distribution by Utopia and will screen in theaters nationwide for one-night only May 24 courtesy of Fathom Events.

The movie (you can read the review here) will be shown at theaters across Houston at 7 p.m. May 24. Tickets are available here. That screening also will include a Q&A with Ryan that was recorded when the movie debuted at SXSW in March.

The Texas Rangers also are hosting a screening of the movie on May 1 after their game against the Braves. The film will be shown on the Globe Life Park video boards and Ryan will have a Q&A on the field with Rangers public address announcer Chuck Morgan.

The 105-minute documentary chronicles Ryan’s career through the eyes of the some of that era’s greatest hitters including Pete Rose, Rod Carew, Cal Ripken Jr., George Brett and Dave Winfield, but also walks through the love story that is the relationship with his wife Ruth, who grew up with Nolan in Alvin. The two will celebrate their 55th anniversary this summer.
