The busy spring restaurant-opening season has died down, but Houston chefs still have plenty in store for the summer, from barbecue and beer to sushi and Vietnamese food.

Here are the 14 most anticipated restaurants opening in Houston this summer.

Fins and Feathers (June)

Pitmaster Greg Gatlin’s new full-service restaurant, Fins & Feathers, debuts in Independence Heights in late June. The strictly poultry and seafood-focused concept will offer a menu of smoked meats and fish with fried chicken platters, plus a weekend brunch that will evolve with the seasons.

Georgia James (July)

After serving its last meal at its Montrose location (temporarily inside One Fifth), Georgia James is set to open at new multi-use development Regent Square on July 1. The larger location will be a stark difference from its original home on Westheimer, boasting 320 seats spread out over two floors, and another 50 on the terrace. Despite the change of address, diners can still expect to see the restaurant’s signature cast iron-seared steaks, seasonal sides and those beloved “baller boards.”

Local Table (August)

Eat Local Concepts is opening a fifth location of its fresh-eats restaurant Local Table in the Woodlands in August. Like its other locations, it will feature lunch, dinner and weekend brunch with menu highlights including fire-roasted brussels sprouts, cast iron-baked goat cheese and lemon pasta.

Late August

The long-awaited restaurant by Chris Williams and Dawn Burrell of Lucille’s Hospitality will open its doors this summer in the historic Midtown building—now the Ion—that housed Sears for 88 years. The concept pays homage to the ever-dissolving department store with its name, Late August, a reference to the company’s iconic catalog, which was always released in late August.
